Background to the research
Family carers are the most valuable resources we have in dementia care, yet we know very little about how best to support them. Different areas of the country offer different types and levels of service. We want to understand more about the support that carers get in different areas and how this affects them.
We’re running a survey of carers of people with dementia, asking what services they get and how they feel (in terms of their health, quality of life and so on). The study is being conducted by the University of York in partnership with Dementia UK, who run the Admiral Nursing service.

The findings of the survey will be fed back to the government and published widely so that the people who plan and provide services for people affected by dementia have better evidence about how to support them.

How can you help?
If you are a current carer of someone with dementia and you live in one of the above areas please consider completing the questionnaire, either online (follow this address https://york.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_4VFj3HqCLhRytdb) or on paper (please contact kate.gridley@york.ac.uk for a paper copy of the questionnaire).

What do we mean by current carers?
We are looking for current carers of people with dementia, which we are defining as carers of people still living at home (i.e. their home or yours, or supported housing, but not residential care or a nursing home).
