Are you the parent or carer of someone who has learning disability?

Do you want to support other carers to help improve the lives of people with learning disabilities?

Have experience of Chairing a group?

Listening to Carers is looking for a new Chair that will help the group to continue to meet their aims:

Providing peer support to one another
Working with Social Services, health and other related agencies to improve the lives of people with Learning Disability
Liaising with services to ensure members have up to date information regarding support for people with Learning Disabilities

Structure of the group

The group consist of carers who have relative has a learning disability (either living in the family home or dispersed housing)
They meet every 6 weeks (currently on a Wednesday morning)
There are currently 15 to 17 carers attending

Your Roles and Responsibilities

Organise dates for meetings every 6 weeks
Compile the agenda
Organise and introduce speakers to the group
chair to ensure everyone is involved
To check minutes with the group’s Secretary distribute
Manage conflicts within the group (with individuals and service providers)
Collection and distribution of travel expenses
