Salford Young Carers Champion Schools Award

Friday January 27th saw the launch of the Salford Young Carers Champion Schools Award Scheme at 2 half day Young Carers seminars hosted by St. Ambrose Barlow RC High school.

The introduction of the awards celebrate 10 years of the Young Carers Service working in local schools. From 3 High Schools in year one we now have physical links with over 40 schools and have a half termly E-newsletter going out to almost 100.

Certificates will be awarded following the presentation of a portfolio of evidence, a site visit & scrutiny by a member of the Young Carers/Young Adult Carers Board

On achieving the award schools will be able to develop their work further and look at Exception Champion School status.

We will still support schools who wish to apply for national awards.

At Friday's events the following schools were awarded Champion School status;

St. Ambrose Barlow RC High,  The Albion Academy, Ellesmere Park High, Harrop Fold High, St. Phillips Primary, St. Charles Primary, St Andrews Methodist Primary school, Irlam & Cadishead College, and Walkden High

Well done to them all & look out for some more awards over the next few weeks.

Thank you to St. Ambrose Barlow RC High school for hosting the events
