On Thursday October 20th it was a pleasure for Salford Young Carers to facilitate the 2016 Seldom Heard event for Salford City Council. Working with members of the Young Carers Board & the Salford Youth Council we targetted 12 schools looking at involving pupils in yrs 6&7 in a day of activities that allowed them to express their views on the city and their place in it.

The day was amazing with small groups producing presentations for their invite guests which included the  elected City Mayor, The lead Councillor for Children Services and other city leaders. All of whom were very impressed with the work that was done, the honesty of the young people and the standard of the presentations themselves.

Sadly 4 schools choose not to be involved and one could not turn up on the day, but the 50 young people who did engage all really enjoyed themselves and got a tremendous amount out of one young man said " I cannot believe I got to meet the Mayor"

So massive thanks to the schools involved, (Buile Hill, Albion High, Harrop Fold, Moorfields, Lewis Street, Irlam & Cadishead College and St. Paul's Peel), The Mayor, Cllr Stone, Cllr Walsh and the other city leaders.

The event was hosted by Salford City College at their Eccles campus, and they made the young people so welcome we will be back in the future if at all thank you Karen & Rebekah your both stars!!

Huge thanks to our facilitators who worked on the event, both on the day & the planning of it;
