Salford is a forerunner in health and social care. This is to invite you to a Dementia Discovery Day to develop a new approach to stakeholder engagement that will help people with dementia to live well and age well in Salford.
The Dementia Discovery Day will bring together people with dementia and carers with an equal number of interested professionals from all sectors. Drawing on people’s experiences, the Day will focus on solutions and influence the way forward in Salford’s new Locality Plan.
As well as a scrumptious lunch, through positive approaches such as Empowered Conversations, Appreciative Enquiry and Social Value, the day will explore for Salford:
Discover – What’s currently happening? What works well and what could improve?
Dream – What could be happening? What are our suggested solutions?
Design – What would it look like? How can this be adopted and who should deliver?
We want to you join the range of fantastic organisations in New Roots (Salford’s open source partnership for dementia) from the Salford Dementia Institute and the Alzheimer’s Society through to Age UK Salford, Garden Needs, Six Degrees, Social adVentures and Unlimited Potential, to name but a few.
We ask you to embrace this approach by attending the Dementia Discovery Day and:
1) wear civvies – no suits, ties, lanyards or badges
2) introduce yourself with just your first name and where you live
3) leave your agendas at the door to work beside people with dementia and carers
As there will be equal numbers, depending on the number of local people attending, it may not be possible to have every invited professional to attend on the Day itself.
From the Day, there will be a co-produced report on solutions with people with dementia, and also a Commissioning for Social Value pilot in Salford.
