Carers Week News-Building Carers Friendly Communities

Carers Week takes place from 8th-12th June with the theme this year being ‘Building Carer Friendly Communities’.  There are lots of fantastic events taking place across the service! Help us celebrate this amazing group of people

Salford Young Carers

On Tuesday 9th June from 6pm-8pm, a group of Salford’s Young Carers and Young Adult Carers will be taking part in an event to celebrate Carers Week at the Students Union, Salford University. This will celebrate their achievements and contribution to the city as well as 15 years of Young Carers Services in the City of Salford! The event will be an opportunity for partner organisations to meet and find out about our service and highlight the partnership with the University that has set the national standards for supporting young adult carers to access and take part in University education. THIS EVENT IS INVITE ONLY

Salford Young Carers are exhibiting ‘Homing In’, a photography project, at Eccles Community Art Gallery. See their web site at www.ecclescommunityartgallery.org The  project saw the young people working with a professional photographer to reflect their personal experiences of being young carers. The exhibition reflects a real celebration of the young people and the valuable contribution they make to their families and city. It will run on Tuesday and Saturdays until the 18th June.

On Thursday 11th June Young Carers from the Primary School group will be celebrating Carers Week with special night out at Paradise Island Adventure Mini Golf! This will be lots of fun and offer the group a chance to relax and celebrate their achievements as young carers. THIS EVENT IS INVITE ONLY

Salford Carers Centre

On Monday 8th June Salford City Council and NHS Salford Clinical Commissioning Group are holding a Carer’s Day from 10am at Buile Hill Park, Salford. This is an opportunity for carers to find out about local services for their families or the people they care for and also meet other carers. Carers can enjoy free refreshments, lunch and take part in healthy lifestyle activities - holistic therapies, massage and exercise sessions.

On Tuesday 9th June the Carers Centre have organised a trip for carers alongside carers and colleagues from THE FED, to Chatsworth House - a stately home in the Derbyshire Dales!

 There will be an information stand at Salford Royal Hospital on Wednesday 10th June alongside the Age UK Salford Hospital Discharge team. The Centre’s Carers Support Workers will be on hand with advice and support.

On Thursday 11th June from 10am-1pm carers centre staff will be at Salford Shopping Centre with information about all the services and support they offer.

The Carers Centre is hosting a Carers Lunch at the Glass House Restaurant at Salford City College in Walkden on Thursday 4th June. Booking is essential for this event.
