The Children Society are holding a Photography Exhibition in February, in London, which aims to raise the profile of young carers across the country. Some Young Carer Champions are already getting involved and sharing their stories and professional portraits for the exhibition. This includes 3 young carers from Salford
Alongside the portrait photos, they want to create a huge 'A Day in the Life of a Young Carer' montage to display in the gallery. So, they need 166 photos that represent a typical day for a young carer - so each photo will represent 1000 of the 166,000 "known" young carers in the country.
These photos will be seen by thousands of visitors in a professional gallery in London, so it’s a fantastic opportunity to share your creativity, and your story with a huge audience.
So if you want your photo to be shown in a professional gallery? GET INVOLVED!
Submit your photo by the 12th January to be included! You can photograph anything, anywhere and anyone you like that shows a moment in your life. It can be part of your daily routine, or something completely unusual.
You can focus on your role as a carer, but you don’t have to – it can be any part of your day that says something about you and your life as a teenager. You can be as creative as you like, or just take a simple photo – the point is to give you a space to show the reality for young people who care.
So if you want to be involved email your photos to us at Salford Young Carers and we will forward them for you or tweet your photo using the hashtag #ycifphoto.
1. Put the time of day you took the photo in the title.
2. Add a few lines about the photo - where is it/what is it/why did you choose this?
3. You can submit as many photos as you like!
If you take photos of other people’s faces, we will need to get in touch with you to ask that the person/people give permission for the photo to be exhibited.
UPDATE The Children Society are now offering prizes - including iTunes and Argos vouchers! They will randomly select entries and send out prizes to the lucky winners once we've got all the photos!
Also if any of the portraits or other photos you send in are exhibited we will arrange a trip for the "photographers" to go and see the exhibition
So get snapping!!
